Indian barytes poised for hikes while rare earths rise on Chinese quota cuts

Indian barytes prices will probably be on the move in August after an announcement by state-owned Andhra Pradesh Minerals Development Corp (APMDC) of a 5% increase in ex-mine prices.

The current price of ex-mine material is $68-72/tonne. However, traders are also anticipating a pay increase for the miners, which could add further price pressure. In total, price hikes of around $3/tonne are anticipated next month.

 

Drilling grade barytes, lump, OCMA/API grade in bulk is now $70-72/tonne, FOB Madras whilst ground API material in big bags is priced at $90-95/tonne, again FOB Madras. Meanwhile,...
