Mintek outlines development plans

INTERVIEW: IM talked to Mintek’s new business development manager, John Batty, about his plans for the institute, including new lithium and rare earth projects

From its position as one of the world’s largest providers of mineral process technology and solutions, Mintek – South Africa’s national mineral technology institute – is well aware of the need to continually develop new innovative technologies for the country’s booming minerals industry.

 

IM caught up with Mintek’s newly appointed manager of business development, John Batty, to discuss the institute’s plans for the future and the position of South Africa in new energy markets.

 

IM: Given your former role at SGS South Africa, what business areas will you be looking to develop at Mintek?

 

JB: What I find attractive about the Mintek role is that I will be more involved in the research and development aspects of mineral beneficiation, and that the diversity of commodities that Mintek is involved with is enormous. I have a process engineering...
